Calvin Ayre Retires

You’ve likely heard the rumblings and rumors….and for once…..it’s true…I’m packing it in! Well who am I kidding, if you’re reading this now you know that for the past few years I’ve been pretty focused on jetting around the world to exotic places and filming crazy shit for this blog. I was really more of a brand ambassador for Bodog the past while anyway – but it was fun while it lasted.

In 2007 ownership of Bodog in North America was taken over by Alwyn Morris and Morris Mohawk Gaming Group, and starting in 2006, Bodog hired up a mostly European team to run their now solely non US facing operations so me retiring won’t have any effect operationally….the same great Bodog experience will continue exactly as it has in the past. I just won’t have cameras shoved in my face all the time and I won’t have to do all the grueling travel. My retirement also will not affect anything that you see or notice when enjoying the Bodog products and services.

To all the staff, vendors and advisors that have been part of the Bodog development I want to extend sincere thanks for not only the hard work and dedication but the lessons and good times I have experienced and can now take away with me. I wish you all continued success and if we bump into each other on a white sand beach or maybe the streets or bars of my home base of Antigua please come say hello.

I’m going to focus my time on a balanced private life and The Calvin Ayre Foundation which I am truly passionate about.

From the Comic-Con Front Lines..

The Ayre Force booth at Comic-Con is creating a huge buzz. So many people are taking photos of our cool set-up and the incredibly hot and decked out Bodog Girls that you'd swear the paparazzi were swarming the place.

American Idol Postage Stamps?

Carrie Underwood

I wonder what Carrie Underwood tastes like…

Forget about how bummed you were when Michael Johns got sacked or how stoked you were when Kristy Lee "I'm going to blow your socks off" Cook was finally sent packing or how sexy you think Simon Cowell's chest hair is. Let's talk stamps.

During "Idol Gives Back" week, host Ryan Seacrest announced that the American Idol winners (Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, and whoever the hell wins American Idol 7) will soon be given further royalty status through a set of limited-edition postage stamps.

It used to be that only queens and presidents (and maybe Elvis) had their faces put on stamps, but that no longer seems to be the case. Clearly. Maybe they're trying to bring back that whole letter-writing thing or maybe it's because they figure a lot of people will get off on the idea of licking Kelly Clarkson. (Yeah yeah I know I know…proceeds of these stamps will go towards the charities supported by Idol Gives Back…shame on me.) But postage stamps? Really?

(You can get all the odds to win American Idol in our Sportsbook.)

The Calvin Ayre Foundation - A New Look

calvinayrefoundation1.jpg

One of my goals this year was to broaden the scope of the my charity organization, The Calvin Ayre Foundation. We have been concentrating our efforts in the places where the challenge is greatest; in the developing countries and economies of our world. Our focus on the community helps us to have a stronger impact in the lives of children and families made vulnerable through circumstances beyond their control.

We have decided to take a more hands-on approach as we move forward, visiting these areas first hand to assess the local needs, and then working with the people and other volunteers to build a more sustainable life and future.

As part of the effort expansion, we've done a complete re-design of the Calvin Ayre Foundation website. We've made it a pleasure to navigate – you can search by country or by project, added a media player, a new photo gallery, a news section that will draw attention to current events outside of the Foundation's work, a section called "Our Heroes" which will profile outstanding kids, a short documentary profiling some of the people we've helped and articles about the work we've done over the past few years and will continue to do in the future.

Check out the new Calvin Ayre Foundation website here.

Let's Roll The Blooper Reel!

For all the videos you see on my blog, there are so many outtakes and bloopers that don't end up making the cut – we put a reel together to give you a behind the scenes look at how much fun it is making these video blogs. Check it out!
